Happy New Year!
Actually, Advent is the beginning of the liturgical church year. We will start the Advent season on November 29th. Pastor Larry will use Luke 21:25-36 in his sermon: "When Christ Returns." The text tells us to: "Be alert at all times, praying....." Advent is the season when we prepare ourselves to celebrate the greatest person who lived on the face of this earth.
You will want to be at as many of the Advent services as possible. If you will be out of town this Sunday, be sure to attend worship where you will be. If you're in town, we will look forward to having you at the service.
This is also an excellent time to invite someone to attend with you.

Worship for November 22, 2009
The Apostle Paul's first letter to the Thessalonians is the backdrop for the sermon on this Sunday before thanksgiving. Pastor Arlin will use chapter 5 verses 12-18 for his sermon, "An Attitude of Gratitude." A lot of people have been listing a different thing daily for which they are thankful. That has been helpful to develop an "attitude of gratitude". Let's show up and let Pastor Arlin help us focus on this.
Following the services there will be a pot luck dinner and we will decorate the church for the Advent season. Every Sunday is a good Sunday to bring a guest but this will be an extra good Sunday for it.

Sermon for November 15
Last Sunday Pastor Arlin preached from Hebrew 1:1-4 and preached on the topic, "God's Final Message." This week Pastor Larry will follow up from Hebrews 10:11-25 and will preach on the topic, "Provoking Each Other." We pray that this will be an upbeat sermon about how we help each other practice our faith. "And let us consider how to provoke one another to love and good deeds, not neglecting to meet together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another, and all the more as yuo see the Day approaching." 10:24-25.
This is a very timely subject in a day when so much of what the world sees from the church is negative. Believers need to be helping each other do those things to grow in the faith.
Invite your friends who do not attend church. God is planning a special service for us.

Turkey dinner
Oh, I remember a year ago when we gathered to have a thanksgiving dinner at Paradise. My, was it good!!!!!
On Friday, November 6th at 5:30 PM we will do it again. If you missed last year you won't want to let that happen. If you were there last year you will definitely be present.
Invite others to join you. We'll have a great fellowship and good food.
