Serving Other --- Being Blessed!

The Men's group had a special project to serve a meal at the Ronald McDonald's House on Saturday. That is such a great way of reaching out in Risk Taking Mission and Service. We extended the love of Christ to persons in a time of trial. If nothing else happened, that would have been worth all the energy.

But much more happened. Our people who served were blessed. It was thrilling to hear one of our young people share his joy was helping at McDonald's house. Those who drove down and served the meal received a blessing. I don't care how hard you try -- you can't serve without being blessed.

There was another benefit. As the meat was being smoked for Saturday, our church family and friends gathered to share a time of fellowship with good food, laughter and music. Can you believe God has set the world up in such a way that so much joy could come from the simple act of doing good?

Today (Monday morning) begins another week. We take our faith with us as we go to work, to school, or where ever we will be. We can pray for each other during the week. Pastor Arlin will be working on a sermon for next Sunday based on Exodus 17:1-7. (hint: why not read it several times this week?)

Let me close with a short thought for you: "Not everything that is faced can be changed, but nothing can be changed until it is faced." --James Baldwin.
