Sunday, October 5, 2008 - "Grapes of Wrath."

Scripture: Matthew 21:33-46

A guy takes a piece of property. It may have been in pretty bad shape. He fertilized it. He prepared all the grapevines so they were in excellent share for growth. He fixed the barns and all the buildings. He gave a new coat of paint. People traveled for miles and said, "My, look what he’s done to this pile of rock!"
Now he leased it out to tenants and was able to travel. Those he trusted abused it and refused to acknowledge him as the owner. They would pay their rent and they killed the ones he sent to collect the rent.
We will look at this story on Sunday and see what Jesus was saying about the people who were in charge of the church. How does this speak to the church today? I look forward to sharing this story with you and we will conclude with Communion. Sunday is World Communion Sunday. We will be share Communion with our sisters and brothers around the world who speak other languages and have different colored skins. What a day of celebration. When you invite someone to worship with you, be sure to tell them that they are welcome to participate in the Communion service with us.
